Two machine vision system have been installed at the production facility of BIAXPLEN (part of SIBUR) in Kursk. One system produced by DeCoSystem (Italy) was installed on the LEYBOLD film metallisation unit as part of the project to improve the quality of output, including the high-margin HBV.M film.

BIAXPLEN held a round table discussion with clients to exchange views about the BOPP market trends in 2021 and outlook for 2022, current and future customer service, results of a customer satisfaction survey, changes in BIAXPLEN’s sales policy and logistics, and new packaging solutions, among other things. Over 30 companies from Europe and the CIS, including partners, took part in the event.

BIAXPLEN has developed a unique metallised HBV.M film. The new grade has strong barrier properties and can be used in gas-filled packaging to ensure an extended shelf life for potato chips. There are only a few companies globally capable of making films with similar characteristics.

BIAXPLEN has held an online meeting at the SIBUR Business Practices platform to discuss the results of the customer satisfaction survey for 2H 2020.

BIAXPLEN held a webinar for its foreign clients titled Biaxplen BOPP films: flexible packaging and labels. The topics discussed included BIAXPLEN’s assortment of BOPP film grades, their applications, compliance with sustainable development principles, and new products in the pipeline. Representatives of 39 companies from Europe and the CIS took part in the event.

BIAXPLEN has collected 40 cu m of waste as part of its environmental clean-up days initiative in Zheleznodorozhny (Balashikha), Kursk, Balakhna, Novokuybyshevsk and Tomsk. Over 100 of the company’s employees cleaned up lorry parks, hard shoulders of adjacent roads, and railway tracks. The waste was sorted, separated and sent for disposal.

In 2019, BIAXPLEN partnered with its customers, multinational companies and SIBUR’s R&D centres to develop new films for a number of consumer segments.

BIAXPLEN has acquired a 50% stake in the European BOPP film producer Manucor S.p.A.

R&D staff from Mars Russia visited SIBUR’s cluster in Tomsk, which is home to Tomskneftekhim, SIBUR’s R&D centre and BIAXPLEN T.
